  • Provides ideal solution for small item where space is constraint.
  • Only accepts numeric data.
  • Application Identifier appended is in human readable (not encoded).

GS1 DataBar Truncated is fixed-length, 2D symbology that can be used to encode 14 digit GTIN. GS1 DataBar Truncated can only be scanned by linear hand held or imaging scanning device. GS1-Databar Truncated has exactly the same symbol structure of GS1-Databar. The only difference is that the height of GS1 DataBar-14 Truncated has been reduced to 13X.

GS1 DataBar-14 Truncated is capable of encoding 20000000000000 (2 x 10 ^ 13) values. These values are expressed as 14 digits called Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs). The first digit is linkage flag. The following 13 digits are data characters.

GS1 DataBar Truncated is smaller than EAN-13 or UPC-A Bar Code Symbols. DataBar Truncated provides linkage flag to indicate the existence of 2D composite component. GS1 DataBar Truncated is not suitable for Retail Point of Sales.

GS1 DataBar Truncated is specially designed for very small item identification and mainly used in healthcare industry. GS1 DataBar Truncated encodes full 14-digit Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs). GS1 DataBar Truncated is one of the most popular 2D barcode symbology that easily scanned by wands, linear 2D imagers and handheld lasers. It cannot be scanned efficiently by omni-directional scanners. GS1 DataBar-14 Truncated encodes GTIN-12 or GTIN-13 in 14-digit data structure.

GS1 DataBar Truncated is structured 2D barcode symbology and encoded the same as the standard GS1 DataBar-14 format, except its height is reduced to a 13X minimum. It may be used for small items when an Indicator digit greater than one is required. DataBar Truncated is easily read by scanners like wands, handheld lasers and CCD scanners. It cannot be read efficiently by omnidirectional slot scanners.
